It is hard to believe that we have been out of high school 65 years!!!

We are having a REUNION! Mark your calendars for Friday, October 18 - Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Des Moines

We are holding the Reunion at the Marriott Hotel in West Des Moines, where we had our 50th Reunion. The address for the Marriott is 1250 Jordan Creek Parkway. Their phone number is 515/267-1500.

Our plan for the week-end is to keep it simple.

Friday, October 18th, 2024: 

• We will meet at the hotel at 5:00 p.m. for cocktails. There will be a cash bar that will be available until 7:00 p.m. As we did at our 50th Reunion, you are on your own for dinner. You can make reservations at the hotel for dinner, or at Ruth Chris Steak House a couple of blocks away. There are also five restaurants at the Jordan Creek Mall. Also, a McDonalds next door, Culvers across the street, or a Perkins nearby.

Saturday, October 19th, 2024: 

• At 10:00 a.m. we are scheduled for a self-guided tour of Roosevelt. A member of the Foundation will meet us at the front door. Our tour is one hour. The school is sponsoring a debate competition that day, so there will be students in the building. If you have a car, and you would be willing to offer a ride to another classmate, you will find a box to check on the Registration Form.  

• Everyone is on their own for lunch. I have spoken to Noah’s Ark, and we can meet there for lunch after the tour. They would like an idea of how many are coming, so if you are, you can check a box on the Registration Form.

• Saturday evening dinner at the Marriott. Cocktails at a cash bar begin at 5:00 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, October 20th, 2024:

• At 9:00 a.m. classmates can gather in the hotel lobby for breakfast. Everyone orders on their own, but like Noah’s, there will be a box on the Registration Form for you to check if you will be there.  

Lodging:

Marriott: We did not set aside a block of rooms, but our Event Manager, Erin, has reserved 10 two queen-size bed rooms for $139.00 ++. She will hold these rooms until 30 days prior to check in. Everyone's on their own to book a hotel room. They do have handicap rooms. You will find the Reservation Link on the email to book your room. Phone number: 515/267-1500.

Other options (very close to the Marriott): 

• Motel 6: I do not have a contact for Motel 6, but the phone number is 515/267-8885.
• Sonesta Simply Suites: Call the General Manager, Matt Stilwell at 515/221-0001 to make a reservation.
• Springhill Suites: Your contact is Ashley Jensen Front Office Manager at 515/223-9005. 
• Also close by is a Fairfield Inn 515/225-6100 and a Hampton Inn, Lake Drive, 515/223-4700.

Transportation:

If you are flying into Des Moines and staying at the Marriott, you can be transported to and from the airport at no charge. You can call the hotel when you arrive and they will send the shuttle, which can take 30 minutes or more. Our Event Manager, Erin Weaver, said if you contact her ahead of time, and give her your flight information, they will have the shuttle there when you arrive. Call the hotel at 515/267-1500 and ask for Erin. It says on the hotel information that the shuttle is only available during the week, but Erin said if you are flying on Sunday, the shuttle will take you to the airport if you make an arrangement ahead of time.

The Marriott has a shuttle that will only transport within a 10-mile radius of the hotel. The charge is $20 for a round trip to take people to Jordan Creek Mall. If you decide on Friday night you want to go to Ruth Chris Steak House, they can transport you if you make a reservation with the hotel.
