Thomas E. Holtz passed away on January 30, 2017 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA at the age of 76. Tom was born on November 14, 1940 to Earl and Marcella (Wolfkill) Holtz in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the oldest of 3 children. He attended Theodore Roosevelt High School, class of 1959 where he played running back on the state winning football team. He went on to play football at Drake University where he also began to explore his love of art and design.

This is not an obituary, rather memories of a remarkable woman, my friend. It was 1954, 7th grade at Callanan Jr. High School. Her last name was Patton, mine was Peterson. That was how it began, a friendship of a lifetime. How could it not be? Pat had one of the most sweet, generous souls ever. But as teenagers, we were interested in fun, and fun we had. Thomas Moore Gray, 74, died peacefully at his home in Durango, Colorado on April 22, 2014.

Thomas Moore Gray was born in Nashville, Tenn. on August 14, 1940 to Lawrence Houston Gray and Hilda Moore Gray. The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1950, and Tom lived there until graduating from Drake University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

Tom had a varied career. He taught college in Canton, Ill., earned a Master’s degree in Asian Studies from the University of Chicago. Jacquelin J. Kail, 77, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2019. Jackie was born to Jack and Jewell Lane on October 5, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Richard Kail on October 9, 1959 at Grace United Methodist Church, the same church she was baptized in. Her faith was very important to her! Jackie was employed as a store manager and a real estate agent with Iowa Realty for most of her career.
