Mary Annette Miller, passed away at her home on April 8, 2021. She was born March 2, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa to Doyle LeCocq and Mary Louise LeCocq. She was affectionately known as Annette to family and friends. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by her loving family; husband Charlie Miller, daughter Deanna Miller Laubacker, son-in-law Matthew, grandson Joshua, and her brother Rex LeCocq.

Annette’s marriage to her husband Charlie, is a beautiful story. They first met in nursery school as children, and they began dating her senior year of high school after she called him to go to a school dance. He stated that he was too shy to ever ask her out but loved her the minute he saw her. They were married for 57 beautiful years. Charlie has said that Annette was the most wonderful gift God could have ever given him and the only argument they ever got in was after he tampered with her cooking when they were newlyweds. She forgave him very quickly, but he learned never to do that again!

Annette graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1964 with a Bachelor’s Degrees in Speech Pathology and Teaching the Deaf. She became the first Speech Pathologist at the Missouri State Facility for the Severely Disabled. Annette was known for her dedication and devotion for patient care.

In 1987 Annette and her family moved to Pensacola, FL where she continued her career at West Florida Hospital. Over her 50-year career she treated more than 8,000 patients and received numerous awards and accolades, but the biggest was when she was named the Employee of Year in 1998 out of 1,200 employees. She was very proud of that, but rarely talked about it.

Annette devoted her time and energy to the welfare of others; she served several years as the President of Zeta Phi Eta National Fraternity of the Language Arts, Professional Advisor to the Northwest Florida Laryngectomy Group, and as an Elder at her church - The First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola. Further, she volunteered countless hours at the American Cancer Society scheduling and driving patients to and from chemotherapy treatments.

Annette will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Saturday April 17, 2021 at 10:30am, at the First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola: 33 East Gregory Street Pensacola, FL 32502 and live streamed at HTTPS://youtu.be/RE2lqjwjUg8. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or to First Presbyterian Church. Should anyone have any questions please feel free to contact the Church (850)438-9619.
